By “inner life” we refer to that essential aspect of human nature that yearns for deep connection, grapples with difficult questions about meaning, and seeks a sense of purpose and genuine self-expression.

http://www.edutopia.org/foundation/foundation.php:The George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF) was founded in 1991 as a nonprofit operating foundation to celebrate and encourage innovation in schools. Since that time, we have been documenting, disseminating, and advocating for exemplary programs in K-12 public schools to help these practices spread nationwide. We publish the stories of innovative teaching and learning through a variety of media -- a magazine, an e-newsletter, CD-ROMs, DVDs, books, and this Web site. Here, you'll find detailed articles, in-depth case studies, research summaries, instructional modules, short documentary segments, expert interviews, and links to hundreds of relevant resources. You'll also be able to participate as a member of an online community of people actively working to reinvent schools for the twenty-first century.

Go4It : A response to the UK HTI report 'Cotton Wool Kids' Go4it is a Campaign and Awards process to encourage culture change in schools. Go4it aims to encourage, support and reward schools which can demonstrate that they are creating and constantly working to improve a culture of creativity, risk taking and adventure for learning. This will include developing a spirit of adventure for pupils during school hours and through extra curricular activities. Schools will demonstrate and encourage self-belief, where there is no ‘fear of failure’, where staff and pupils embrace the fact that they can learn from mistakes. Staff and pupils will demonstrate a can-do attitude, will support emotionally intelligent understanding and be able to reflect and grow their ideas.
